9/23/05 Update on the HART van trip to Louisiana and Mississippi

A big thank you to all who have come forward to provide foster care, monetary donations and supplies. Patricia took all of the medical supplies donated down with her to leave with the triage set up for the animals. Rescuers were so impressed by our incredibly generous donation of supplies!

A very special thanks go out to Patricia, her husband Ed, her sister Carmen and all of the other many volunteers for making the drive down to Mississippi and Louisiana to help the animals displaced by Katrina. With little sleep, incredible heat, long hours on the road and sparse running water to bath or brush their teeth in, they managed to bring home 25 dogs and 5 cats. HART has taken 10 dogs and 5 cats with the remainder going to other local rescue organizations.

HART took in a total of 10 dogs and 5 cats just this week from Louisiana and Mississippi.  In the traditional HART spirit, we took the dogs and cats that were in the worst shape and that many rescues had looked over when selecting who to help.

We thank all of you for your continued support. We hope to continue to take in more hurricane victims and still continue to support the 20+ shelters that currently depend on HART.

Your help is more important than ever. We are still taking donations to help pay for medical and boarding fees associated with helping these dogs and cats. We are also still looking for foster homes so that we can continue to make room in our vets for those who are coming in with need for medical attention.

If you can help, please let us know!
