In Memory
Baby, thank you, you touched our lives in such a special way. You had been a
family pet-that lost his family, been fostered in a few different homes,
been adopted and returned for biting, then, kenneled, where he thought he
had been lost and forgotten. He was timid and depressed (with his tail stuck
between his legs) when we agreed to take him home until HART could find a
permanent home. The first thing he had to do was show this new family who
was boss so at dinner time he bit his new foster mom and then turned around
and bit his new foster dad. He had 3 sisters, 1 brother, and a cat for a
pet. He was so proud of having the loudest howl in the neighborhood that
every night about 10pm he went out to the backyard and announced that it was
bedtime. Boy, did he get the neighbors “in line” fast. We seldom had to call
to Baby, we would just knock on the window and he would immediately come
back in the house.
Our vet suspected that Baby had Cushing’s disease causing his aggression and
when Baby was treated for this problem he became THE BEST DOG.
Unfortunately, shortly after treating the Cushing’s it was discovered that
Baby had an aggressive oral cancer. With treatment and great vet care, he
was able to stay with us for 3 additional months. His brothers and sisters
have been spending a lot of time looking for Baby, obviously missing him,
and his foster mom still has an ache in her heart. Baby, we will always
think fondly of you.

Cricket

IN LOVING MEMORY
OF CRICKET.
The nights are long and cold since
we've been apart, the pain weighs heavy
In my heart.
In my arms I held on so tightly as
you took your last breath, God took you
that day to your final resting
Place.
So many tears fall, my heart breaks a
little more each day, I loved you so
Completely in every way.
I wish I could feel your heart beat
again, your tiny face I want to kiss;
I don't understand why it has to be like this.
I don't know how to stop the pain, I don't
know how to live anymore, You are all I
Wanted all that I was living for.
The love of my life has been taken away,
But in my heart Cricket you will forever stay.
I miss you so much. Love Mommy.

Newton

Dearest Newton,
I miss you so much. Everyone does. You
were my comfort and my joy, the sweetness that took the edge off the
roughest day.
How I loved watching you learn new things
in your golden years, bravely overcoming your fear of steps and footbridges
or launching yourself over a fallen log instead of finding a way around it.
Then looking back at me triumphantly.
You and your buddy Sandog are together
again. Probably busy checking out interesting garbage cans together or
walking side-by-side, your tails wagging in perfect synchrony with each
step.
It will only be a blink in eternity's eye
till I will be with you both. And we'll go for a ramble and have lots of
snacks.
With all my love,
Mom

Nika

In Loving Memory
Of Nika ( September30,1991 to October15,2003 ) She was my best friend, My
Daughters baby sitter when they both were young. When I walk out in to
the back yard it seems ever so lonely and quiet. But all your memories
flash thru my mind and there all in a special place for you in my heart and
in my mind. You Well Never Be Forgotten My True Friend. Our Nika
Puppy. We Love You Nika, Mom, Stevie, Marillyn.

Sandog

Although Sandog was not a HART dog, he
opened his home to Sammy and Newton, Rusty, Kibbu, Ray, Biloxi and
Paddington. He shared everything generously with them, including the
affection of his human companion. He was a true friend of HART.
Sandog died in January and my life will
never be the same. There are no words to express my love for him.... He was
my heart and soul. Although I know that he is always with me, I miss his
touch and all his sweet little ways. When I leave this earth, he is the
first one I will look for.
He and Newton were such good buddies -
sharing interesting smells around the dumpster and a long walk on a sunny
autumn day. Newton died 20 days after Sandog and they both trotted across
the Rainbow Bridge together.
