In Memory of Our Dear Friends

Lexi (formerly Jill)

Lexi

Lexi (left) and Loco Lexi (rear center) as a kitten
4/1/06 - 6/17/07

It is with a very heavy heart I write this email to let everyone know about Lexi (formerly known as Jill, the gray one) one of Mary's litter from last summer. She was the light of my life who helped me learn to love again and heal my heart after the traumatic loss of a companion animal. Lexi was very sweet, loving, loyal and smart and has taught her brother Loco (the tuxedo) how to do a lot of things like jump, bug hunt and stalk toys. She will be missed tremendously!

It seems when we adopted her she had contracted a kitty calcivirus which made her immune system always have to work a little bit harder. She had nearly a year of care free days until her little body just started shutting down out of the blue. It seems her body's defenses started attacking themselves and despite several blood transfusions we could not get her red blood cell count to sustain itself. As the "runt" of the litter she always stayed little (weighing in at 6.6 lbs) and due to her size and young age, her immune system was just too overwhelmed to heal a bleeding ulcer that developed. We tried everything we could but the light of my life moved on at the request of a greater power than my love.

Lexi - you will be loved forever!
