In Memory of Our Dear Friends

Benji

Benji

Our beloved Benji crossed over to be with the Lord on August 27, 2007.

We adopted our Benji May 11, 2001.  He was being boarded at Commonwealth Animal Hospital in Fairfax, VA.  Benji was a Lhasa Apso and a special needs dog.  We fell in love with him from first sight.

I can never explain to you just how much joy he brought to us over the past seven years.  As our hearts ache over the loss of our devoted and loving friend, we can't help but think that we would have never known him without all the wonderful people of HART.

Rest easy Benji (BooBoo), stay with us in spirit until we can walk with you again, for eternity.

With all our love,
Mom, Dad and Belle

Marshall

Marshall Marshall

Marshall passed away from a brain tumor on Thursday, July 26th.  It was devastating to us.  He came to us as a foster, but after taking him to several adoption days, it became very clear that he didn’t want to move anywhere else!  He would seriously misbehave and act like a completely different dog.  Well, his plan worked, because we decided to keep him!

He was smart and knew how to relax… after his breakfast and walk every morning, he would see us off to work and head back up to sleep in our bed all day (as you can see in the picture).  Every day when we’d come home, we’d hear the familiar “thump, jingle, jingle, jingle” when he’d jump down off the bed and come downstairs to greet us.  He loved to go fishing and four-wheeling and to run around in the woods chasing chipmunks and rabbits.  He acted much younger than his years!  Whenever he’d hop in the car, he’d sit in the driver’s seat as if to say “it’s my turn to drive”.  Whether he was plopping down in the kitchen to watch dinner being made, or jumping up on the couch for his evening nap, he always knew he had a safe and happy home with us.  Even our cat, Ernie, misses him… he seems to walk around looking for him sometimes.

He was truly a special boy and a big part of our lives… even though our time with him was cut short, we are glad that we had the time we did.

With love for Marshall,
Debbie, Bill & Ernie Taylor

Nakita

Nakita

We lost our sweet Nakita on August 7, 2007 to a brain tumor. She never lost her enthusiasm for food, but her poor body couldn't keep up. She was a great friend and we will miss her calm company. Thank you HART for bringing her into our lives.
